Winter 2012 Class Schedule

Class fees and policies: Payment of class fee is required at the time of class registration. Please note that class fees are Non-Refundable. To ensure that you receive the most value out of each class session, required homework must be completed as assigned. Class fees are as follows unless other wise noted in the class schedule:

  • 1-session class is $15.00 +materials
  • 2-session class is $25.00 +materials
  • 3-session class is $35.00 +materials
  • 4-session class is $45.00 +materials

IN STORE PRIVATE LESSONS:
Private lessons are available for crochet or knitting. These run $20 for each session. Call us and we will have an instructor contact you to set up a time that is convenient for you at the store. This is a great way to get the information and assistance that you need.

Additional services are available:

Felt your finished knits here at the store. We'll felt it for you for $15. When you take a class that requires felting, you can pre-pay and save a few bucks!

Janet provides custom knitting, repairs, zippers and finishing of your knitted projects! Contact store for additional information and to be connected to Janet. If you love to knit, but don't like to do the finishing, Janet will save the day!

Does your needlework need finishing? Do you need a lining sewn into your knitted bags? We have a finisher who is great with needle and thread or a sewing machine when the job calls for it. Sharon's finishing will make your needlework shine!

We can help you select frames and mats for your stitching and needlework projects.

U Pick it, U Knit It/U-Crochet It!

These classes allow you to choose any project. Can’t make one of our evening classes?... this is a great alternative. Knit/crochet a sweater, knit/crochet socks, knit/crochet whatever you want! Need help on a specific project, or finishing a difficult one? You can come for only the help you need.

Thursdays: 10am -€“ Noon
Class is $15 a session, or you can save by purchasing several sessions as a bundle.

U Pick it, U Knit It Tuesdays!

On Tuesday evenings, 6-8pm , you can learn to do a new project, or ask for help on a specific project. Class is $15 a session or you can purchase several sessions. You do not need to attend consecutive weeks.

BEGINNER KNITTING & Crochet

Stressless Felted Satchel (Learn to Knit)

You will learn how to knit using this simple to read pattern. This uses either 220 yards bulky weight or 450 of worsted weight. Size 13 24" circular needles and 2 size 11 doublepoints. See model in store. Cost $35 + materials, we will felt your class project for an additional $10.

Beginning Basics I

A 1-night class in beginning basics. Learn to cast on, knit, purl & cast off. We will also learn to do ribbing and moss stitch. Cost: $15 + supplies

Beginning Basics II

A 1-night class in building on the Basics I class. We will learn to do two or three types of increases and decreases and learn how to do yarn overs. Cost: $15 + supplies

Knitting 101 - Secrets of Gauge

In this class we will discuss knitting a gauge swatch, how to measure it, how to adjust to get gauge, what to do if you can't get gauge and more. This is a one night class.
Materials: There is no knitting in this class. Bring a calculator and a pencil for taking notes and doing some math. Handouts will be provided on which you can take notes. Cost $15.

Knitting 101 - Reading Your Knitting

Ever get lost in your pattern and wish you could figure out where you are by looking at your knitted piece? In this one night class, we will guide you through how to read your knitting. There are swatches to be knit before class. Pick up a homework list from the store or print one out from the class list online. You will need needles size 7 or 8, worsted weight yarn, your homework swatches. Cost $15. Pre-requisite to Fixing Your Mistakes

Knitting 101 - Fixing Common Mistakes in Your Knitting

Ever drop a stitch and panic? Realize you have too many stitches? What about those twisted stitches 2 rows down? We'll give you the confidence to fix these and other common errors. There are swatches to be knit before class. Pick up a homework list from the store or print one out from the class list online. You will need needles size 7 or 8, worsted weight yarn, your homework swatches. Pre-requisite: Must have taken Reading Your Knitting or have permission from the instructor. Cost $15.

Magic Loop Socks - Get loopy with us!

Learn to knit any sock pattern using one long circular needle with the Magic Loop method. Choose your sock pattern, grab a long circular & some stitch markers and get "loopy" with us. You will need a sock pattern of your choice, 100g sock yarn, 32-40" long circular needle in the size appropriate for your yarn and pattern, 2 stitch markers. Class fee: $35 + supplies

Felted Clogs

Now that the Christmas rush is over, take some time for yourself. You'll love these warm, comfy slippers! Come learn the M1 increase, short rows and hone your pattern reading skills with us. Fiber Trends pattern, Felt Clogs; 24" circs size 13, spare circular needle in a smaller size, worsted or bulky wool (between 500-720 yds. depending on size clogs being made) Class fee: $35 + supplies See model in shop.

Saturday Sweater Class

Choose between a cardigan or pullover from Knitting Pure & Simple. In 3 classes, learn a basic top down sweater pattern and let the winter take care of itself.

Turkish Bed Socks

This Churchmouse pattern has an interesting way to become a sock. Learn it in 2 weeks.

First Socks

If you want to make socks but the smaller needles make you wince, this is the class you will enjoy. Learn the basic sock techniques using worsted weight yarn and 2 sets circular 24" size 6 needles. The pattern is a new Knitting Therapy Pattern 101. Easy to knit and an excellent gift. See model in shop. Cost $35 + materials.

Socks on Circs

Learn basic sock construction on 2 circular needles. It is all the rage and we know you will love knitting your socks this way! Learn the basic sock construction including the mysterious heel turn. Addiction guaranteed! Learn simple tips to set off your sock knitting. A Knitting Therapy pattern! You will need Knitting Therapy Sock pattern, 2 size 2- 24" circular needles, sock yarn. See model in shop. Cost $35 + materials

Toe-UP Socks

Turn your sock knitting on its head . . . or should we say toes! Come learn to make your socks b starting at the toe and working up to the cuff. This method will take the way you look at socks and turn it upside down. Materials are: Lisa Knits Toe-up pattern; DK weight yarn; 2 pair size 5 - 24" circulars. Cost $35 + materials.

Back to Basics Pullover

An easy dropped shoulder V-neck pullover to knit for everyone you know! Edges are self-finishing. Pattern is from Mountain Colors and comes in finished chest sizes 36"-52". Worsted weight yarn, needles size 6 & 7. Weeks between classes allow for homework time. Class fee: $45 + supplies.

Summer Open Cardigan

Knit a new spring/summer sweater with this Knitting Pure & Simple patter #294. The top down, short sleeve sweater comes in chest sizes 33"-54". Yarn requirements 650-1125yds, 29" circular needles sizes 10 1/2 and 8; 16" circular or needles to obtain gauge. Class is $35 + supplies

INTERMEDIATE KNITTING

Great American Afghan

Here is a chance to create an afghan and be motivated to complete a square a month. The class will meet the first Saturday each month, starting Nov. 5. Supplies: Great American Afghan book, yarn and needles specified in book, cable needle, tapestry needle and stitch markers. Class fee: $15 per month or $150 for all 12 months, but needs to be paid in full by November 5. Prepaying to attend all 12 months will give you 2 months FREE!

Saturdays: 10am-2pm Starts Nov. 5 & will continue the 1st Sat of each month thru Oct. 2012. You can pick up in January.

Crochet classes are scheduled on a one-on- one basis. Please contact the store to be connected with our crochet teacher for any of your crochet needs.

For knitter or crocheter, Kelsey offers a fitting Queen size class that will fit and flatter the plus size person.

Lock-Ins are back by popular demand. Need a night out from your family and want a few hours of uninterrupted knitting, stitching time and spicy conversation? This is the night for you. We will lock-in from 6-10 pm. Cost is $0 unless you would like to go in with the group in an order out, to be decided by the group. Bring a snack to share if you would like. Chocolate is always welcomed!!! They will be the first Friday of most months, and dates will be announced. Call the shop for more information.
